My last glasses at Costco were progressives (love ‘em) with an anti-reflective coating. The cost was $130. (I used the same frames I’d bought there previously.) That was 3 years ago, so I assume the same glasses would cost a little more today. Since I’ve never gone any place else for glasses, I don’t know how this price compares. According to the doctor, my prescription is basic (reading), which must factor in.

Yes, my lenses are single vision. I believe Costco sells progressives and bifocals, too.

I need either bifocals (according to my prescription)
or I prefer the no line ones I have usually gotten at Lenscrafters. They are called Progressives. They
blend from close vision to long distance. These
are the best for me because regular bifocals just
make my eyes crazy and water and are impossible
(for me) to get used to. The optometrist said that some people cannot get used to the Progresssives, some
the other way around. Were your lenses single vision?
At LensCrafters the progressives are very expensive.

The post from Diana could have been written by me. I have only had two prescriptions for eye glasses and went to Costco for each. While I haven’t liked the wait time and having to drive to Costco twice, I have been satisfied with the quality of the glasses (lens and frame) and the service. Also like Diana, I have my eyes examined only by ophthalmologists.

My Mom said she also received an inferior pair of glasses from Costco, but apparently it was due to the optometrist mis-diagnosing her prescription. Costco has a great return policy, however. Were able to return them?

Careful now –I purchased glasses @ Costco and they use cheap glass. The periphery of the lens was blurry and I would need to constantly center my eyes on whatever I was reading – whew was that exhausting. This is one area I would not skimp on — and, Costo SF had a surly attitude about my complaint. The glasses were in end — unusable.

i’m so glad i went up there today — not just for the picture frames, but to find this website. i swear, just this morning i was thinking, i wonder, should i go to all those coupon sites, am i just wasting money, how would i find out??! now i know.

I’ve bought my glasses at Costco for years. Compared to Lens Crafters with all their coupons and sales, they are a much better deal. You just have to wait about a week versus an hour or so.
I’ve never had my eyes tested there. I always see an Opthamologist.

Costco will also for FREE adjust them whenever you go in the store and used to replace them for FREE within the first year if someone steps on them or sits on them–something common with kids!
