Problem: Rick wants to refinance his existing mortgage. “Two times I have used Priceline.com and have named my own prices and fees,” Rick says. “Priceline does not have this service anymore. They have refinancing but not name your own. Do you know of any sites (that do)? I have an 803 credit score and want a 15 year mortgage.”
Solution: There are a few sites Rick might turn to. LendingTree.com is a reputable site that lets you enter information about…
… the mortgage or re-fi loan you are seeking. Up to four potential lenders submit proposals to you. You don’t get to name your terms per se, but the competition gives you negotiating room with the lenders who respond to your specifications.
Lending Tree is overloaded with folks looking for mortgages so response times are longer than in the past. Also, Lending Tree is not currently accepting refinance loan requests for amounts less than $100,000.
If you are in the military or have a direct family member in the military, check out Navy Federal Credit Union. For a 15-year conforming loan, Navy Federal has rates with an APR as low as 4.716%. The APR for a 15-year jumbo loan is as low as 4.968%. Browse their mortgage page for more info.
Prosper.com is another site to keep in mind. It is an online auction site for personal, car, student and home improvement loans, not mortgages. But you can name your own terms. The site, unfortunately, is currently in a quiet period and is not accepting new loan listings or lender registrations.

I just refinanced through loans4less.com. they handle all of California. Their rates are very competitive and their closing costs are fair. I refinanced with them about 5 years ago and recommend them to everyone I know. Check them out!
